Enroll a host

Link a machine to your account without copying secret tokens into your shell history. The flow is similar to NetBird: generate a one-time key from the dashboard, then install the agent and enroll it on the host.

From the dashboard

  1. Click Connect device on the Host page.
  2. Copy the two commands shown in the modal: install, then enroll.
  3. Run them in a terminal on the machine you want to stream.

What the installer does

  • Downloads the prebuilt beam-host binary (with sha256 verification)
  • Installs runtime libraries via apt
  • On latenz-host enroll, spends the enrollment key on POST /enroll and receives a permanent token
  • Writes config to ~/.config/beam/host.env
  • Registers a systemd --user service (needs your active X session for NVFBC)

Install commands

Two steps, the same ones the Connect-device modal shows. The key belongs to the second command only — passing it to the installer is an error, not a shortcut.

  1. Install the agent:
    curl -fsSL https://latenz.app/install.sh | sh
  2. Enroll this machine with the key from the dashboard:
    latenz-host enroll --key=<KEY> --api=https://api.latenz.app

On local development the script is served from this app at /install.sh with URLs injected for your deploy origin.

Hostname as display name

The installer sends the machine hostname during enrollment. That name appears in your host list — you do not pick a name manually in the dashboard.

Manual token (advanced)

You can still create a host via POST /hosts and set BEAM_TOKEN yourself. Prefer enrollment for production machines.
